Me: Hello everyone! So it’s been a few weeks since Steps of Power attended Archon in St. Louis, but things have been a little crazy and I haven’t found the time to tackle the post.
Ishmael: She sleeps. A lot.
Me: …I can’t help it! I’m one of those people who needs 9-10 hours to function!
Ishmael: You call this functioning?
Me: -.-’ And I am once again reminded why I don’t let you on my blog. Anyways, the drive to St. Louis wasn’t too bad—I spent the time there and back reading Heroes or Thieves to Michael and the rest of the crammed car (we just kinda strung the characters all over the boxes and shoved them into the corners), only to decide shortly after returning home that I wanted to revamp it. Again.
Evrae: My elbow was crammed into Darcarus’ balls the whole time.
Darcarus: I wish. Those were Aura’s boobs.
Evrae: …They’re kinda small, aren’t they?
Aura: (raises fist*)
Me: Anyways, Fandom Fest back in August—our first series convention—was absolutely fantastic. We did extremely well, we had a blast, and we met SO many fantastic people. I also bought a giant banner of Evrae's ass--the rest of him was included--just to have my own eye candy during the three days.
Evrae: She's trying to keep my ass for herself.
Darcarus: Damn, you do look good on that banner.
Evrae: I look good everywhere.
Darcarus: What about a dark closet?
Evrae: ...Are you hitting on me?
Me: At Fandom Fest, I also managed to place Best in Show in the cosplay contest for my Eldaeus. But at ARCHON we totally triumphed as a team! Not only did we outsell Fandom Fest by a considerable leap, but Michael, Alexandra, and I all competed as a team this time in the Masquerade competition and the Workmanship competition— Placing Best in Show for Journeyman Class Masquerade and Best in Show in Workmanship competition! Here we are practicing for the Masquerade:
Zauviir: You should have let me compete.
Sairel: …For what? You only wear a loincloth.
Me: One of the coolest things about Archon versus the other conventions we’ve attended so far, was the number of cosplayers. A huge portion of the attendees got into the whole scifi/fantasy vibe. Here are some fantastic fellow cosplayers:
Guns, I love thee.
Awesome assassin, I love thee.
Love yah, Sam! <3 Now write your damn novel, woman!
VLADIMIR. I DOTH LOVE THEE.
Deadpool, I also love thee!
Zed and his shadow, I also love thee!
Ephaim: You love everything...
Me: I don't love dirty socks, Star Wars, and Mexican food.
Castiel, I love thee!
Ephraim: That's surprising.
Me: Hey, don't start giving me snark, Ephraim, or you'll get a seat next to Darcarus on the next car ride.
Darcarus: ...Wait, I'm a punishment now? Gods damn it, I'm like Zauviir level shit now.
Me: No one is Zauviir level.
Last but not least, Stuart Thaman has begun his cosplaying journey!
Me: So in conclusion, Archon is a definite must if you are a SciFi/Fantasy fan. The artists, authors, and dealers room were fantastic places to see cool stuff and mingle, and the entire convention—shows, around the clock gaming, panels, cosplaying—EVERYTHING—was run unbelievably smoothly by the nicest people you could hope to meet. Dealer or fan, this is the place to be next year for the 40th Archon Convention in St. Louis, Sept. 30th-Oct. 2nd!
Darcarus: She left out one important thing—they party hard. Friday and Saturday night, there are room parties listed in the events that are HUGE deals—hundreds of people drinking and geeking out—it’s the place to be!
