Hey guys! So today is the Fandom Fest post! Huzzah huzzah! The most awesome fans and cosplays shall abound in these here posts (at least, the ones I have photos of! Sometimes I get so wrapped up in conversations with awesome people that I forget to take a photo :( Alas!) I'll sprinkle them throughout my posts--even though they won't necessarily line up with what day they were taken on and for what because, well, who cares? I know you guys just want me to get on with it! And at the end, I'll link to all the rest of our photos!
(Also: if you are using an Apple device, it'll do stupid stuff and make some of the images in this post sideways. You can thank Apple for that. Or, like me, you can chuck your phone across the room and see if it fixes the problem.)
~ Friday, Fandom Fest Day 1 ~
As you guys know, I LOVE my Soplings (testing a new fan name out here-- see, Steps of Power = sop and "ling" is the best so we get: Soplings... what do you think? Anyways...)
So this was amazing and totally set the tone for my Fandom Fest this year! Last year, Fidel met me at Fandomfest and he had made an amazing Deadpool pipe cleaner doll. I thought it was so original and neat (and Deadpool, right?! At first when I made this post I thought it was Spiderman and then I realized back then I loved Deadpool too--just had discovered him--so it was probably a Deadpool after all, I'm pretty sure! Anyways, doesn't matter: IT WAS AWESOME.) And he said that he was going to make me one. Fast forward a year: HE REALLY DID!! He saw I was attending and he knew I loved Deadpool and he made me a Deadpool art piece!! I am so unbelievably touched words don't do this justice!! When you ask me why I write and I say the fans, you know it. Holy crap. <3 What an amazing man!
New fans and returning fans alike, it was an amazing Friday! I had the pleasure of many conversations about books with Waldo (aka, the lovely Andrea) over the weekend! <3
~ Saturday, Fandom Fest Day 2 ~
So after a day costuming without my body falling to pieces (which has been the first time since I started cosplaying Eldaeus) I was in great spirits for an early Saturday!
Never-the-less, I was late because mornings still suck.
(Top) I met this dashing Cyclops and the beloved Dusty returned this year with is Steps of Power shirt to enhance my day!
(Bottom) This gorgeous woman and handsome gent are some of the newest Soplings! (yeah, still testing this word... Over a cocktail and a glass of wine last night, it seemed brilliant. Thanks, my dear Sopling, Brian, for getting this started! xD)
And following up from my Eldaeus' Best in Show cosplay of last year, Michael took second in the Master Tier of the cosplay competition this year! (Next year: my goal is to get Alexandra to debut a finished Saebellus for the competition. ;D)
And while Michael was being amazing, I slightly conquered my stage fright by doing an impromptu interview with these amazing cosplayers! Mostly, my editor kept me chill. XD
~ Sunday, Fandom Fest Day 3 ~
Day 3 at Fandom Fest, and after a night out on the town at the Troll Under the Bridge pub in downtown Louisville, I briefly hit the library in town to see a wonderful man I met last year (he was helping to host the Harry Potter launch and he was a dashing Draco!)
At 2am, I was still going strong...! But when I woke up Sunday, I was like "Yeah. No. No costume today."
So I stole my editor's hoodie and went in Steps of Power lazy style.
(I feel like you Soplings come to the table after you've seen me Friday and Saturday in a flashy costume and see me out of one and are just disappointed. It can only go downhill from fancy leather belts and brilliant green-blue hair, I know.)
Never-the-less, we had a blast! I met SO many awesome people on Sunday!--where it's usually the quiet day, it was our busiest and the people I met were an absolute treat!
Super Soplings (try to say that 5 times fast) are so amazing. What's even more incredible is when they're Super Soplings before they've even read the book. These BAMFs are the icing on the cake!! <3
